Cape Byron (Mike Leonard)
With an unspoilt coastline and subtropical climate the Tweed Coast is the perfect holiday destination for those seeking some solitude.
Tweed Heads is the northern most tip of New South Wales, with the main street linking the town with Coolangatta, Queensland. The area has great surf beaches and a beautiful river.
Further south along the Tweed Coast are the seaside villages of Kingscliff and Casuarina Beach. Here you will find sophisticated resort style accommodation with boutique shopping and excellent leisure facilities including walking and cycling paths and parks for barbecues and picnics.
Discover the region by taking a cruise along the Tweed River or join a fishing charter. Explore the picturesque countryside, lush rainforests and World Heritage Listed national parks.
Shop for a unique gift or souvenir at the Tweed Heads markets held on the first Sunday of each month, or for the ultimate in indulgence experience a spa treatment or massage at The Golden Door Spa at Salt Village, the largest day spa in Australia.
Further down the coastline, Byron Bay is a unique seaside village with a relaxed, alternative lifestyle and clean, undeveloped beaches. The region has transformed into a popular beachside retreat yet still maintains the informal culture it has become famous for.
Around ten minutes drive north of Byron Bay is Brunswick Heads. Renowned for its emphasis on water sports including surfing and fishing, the coastal town has a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Further south is Lennox Head, a quiet seaside village nestled between Ballina and Byron Bay. Lennox Head is a popular choice for surfers with its fantastic surf beaches, however fishing and simply relaxing are also favourite pastimes.
Take a 20 minute scenic drive from Byron Bay and you will arrive in Ballina. With pristine white sand beaches, great fishing and surfing as well as easy access to the scenic countryside, Ballina is the ideal location for a relaxed holiday.
Yamba is a dynamic holiday resort with a large emphasis on fishing and is a popular destination for families with its safe sheltered beaches, and there’s also a great surf beach for those that
prefer waves.
